1 Roundabout is better than 2 Traffic Lights

BACK

Wanneroo MP Paul Miles is delighted to announce that the State Government has just allocated $2Million in funding for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of a realigned Gnangara Road, Wanneroo Road and Whitfords Avenue.

“In the past Gnangara Road had been classified as a major distributor road to the nearby industrial estate, however; with significant urban development occurring in the area and the realignment of Ocean Reef Road, the road has now been reclassified as a local road, Mr Miles stated.

“Nevertheless it is still being used as a major distributor road by numerous trucks which combined with the increase in urban development has resulted in a very dangerous situation for local commuters.

“Subsequently I have been campaigning both the City of Wanneroo and the State Government to realign Gnangara Road so it connects with Whitfords Avenue at the intersection of Wanneroo Road.

“I am now absolutely thrilled to be able to announce that the State Government has allocated $2Million for the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of a realigned Gnangara Road, Wanneroo Road and Whitfords Avenue”, Mr Miles said.

Main Roads will work with the City of Wanneroo to expedite this project in conjunction with the realignment of Gnangara Road, which falls under the City’s jurisdiction and for which the City has already collected funding for through developer contributions.

“By undertaking this project we will improve traffic flow and road safety as well as facilitating job creation by encouraging access to and investment in the Gnangara Road Industrial area.

“And possibly the most positive outcome of installing this roundabout is that it will actually get rid of 2 sets of traffic lights, being the lights at Gnangara Rd and Wanneroo Rd and the lights at Whitfords Ave and Wanneroo Rd”, Mr Miles finished with.
